Of course, apart from aesthetics, the nose allows us to breathe, to smell and also serves to support the glasses. You will discover the different types of nose. Find out which one is yours!

Flat nose

The flat nose is characterized by a short bridge with some sagging. The nostrils are extended on both sides and the tip is also flat.

It is so called because people with this type of nose have a hollowed or flattened appearance in profile.

In other words, the nasal appendage protrudes only slightly from the face. The flat nose is prevalent with some differences, among African or Asian populations. However, it is less common in Asia than in Africa.

Snub nose or trumpet nose

Contrary to the previous one, the snub nose has a protruding tip. The nasal septum is generally straight, although it curves slightly at the end. Thus, the nostrils seem to point forward.

This type of nose is common in northern Europe. This shape would be due to an adaptation of the organism to better breathe the cold air.

From the side, the nostrils appear pointed like those of cartoon characters. Cosmetic surgery which is rhinoplasty is very much in demand.

Wide nose

It has as a distinctive feature a constant thickening, from the nasal septum to the tip. The famous basketball player Lebron James has this type of nose.

In addition, the wings and the nostrils are dilated. It is common among populations of North Africa as well as in African-Americans.

Aquiline or Roman nose

The aquiline nose has a high, long and pronounced bridge. The septum curves inward from the tip. Hence, its name which reminds us of a bird’s beak. It is the most striking nose seen in profile.

It is characteristic of the populations of the south of Europe. We also find it in the countries of the Maghreb as well as certain regions occupied by these peoples and in the Slavic populations.

Greek Nose

It is balanced in its proportions. The bridge is straight, the nasal septum is hardly protruding and the nostrils are small. The wings are then slightly dilated. This nose is the perfect complement to the famous Greek profile.

It is the type of nose that can be found in the paintings and sculptures of classical Greco-Latin antiquity. It predominates, but not only, in the European countries of the Mediterranean basin.

Bulbous nose

As its name suggests, its shape is reminiscent of a bulb. It is voluminous in the lower part without being so wide. Indeed, the wings do not exceed much.

Nevertheless, we notice the rounded tip as well as the enlargement of the part surrounding the nostrils. This nose is very common in African populations, African descendants and American mestizos.
