Tummy tuck which is also known as abdominoplasty is a plastic surgery commonly performed throughout the world : its objective is to refine and improve the appearance of the abdomen which at the same time allows to refine the silhouette.

But how much waistline can the patient hope to lose with this operation ? Is it necessary to follow a diet after a tummy tuck ?

What is a tummy tuck ?

Over the years, for many people, the belly loses its firmness and starts to sag little by little. But old age is not the only cause of this deterioration : the effects of a pregnancy, weight variations (weight gain or loss) or in general a poor lifestyle can lead to the sagging of the skin of the abdomen.

If, despite dieting and sports activities, the patient abdomen is still loose, then an abdominoplasty may be considered : this cosmetic surgery, commonly performed throughout the world will allow the patient to have a flat belly and get rid of its excess skin. The operation can be combined with liposuction : the excess fat in the abdominal area is removed before the tummy tuck.

A diet after this operation ?

After the operation, it is necessary for the patient to adopt a new healthy lifestyle :

A healthy diet : the patient will have to opt for a dietary plan that is why it is recommended to consult a nutritionist who will be able to establish a detailed diet program to be followed over the long term.

Regular physical activity : the resumption of sports can be done gradually after 1 to 2 months. However, if you have undergone a diastasis treatment (a surgical procedure that allows the abdominal muscles to be tightened), you should wait between 2 and 3 months, it depends on the patient’s case, the surgeon will indicate you the period.
