With time, facial skin begins to sag : Lifestyle, (alcohol, smoking, sun exposure, etc.) aging and certain hereditary factors also play a role.

Year after year, repeated contractions of the face and neck muscles deepen existing folds and new wrinkles appear.

The most typical wrinkles are those caused by frowning, deepening of the mouth and nose folds and those running from the mouth to the jaw. A facelift surgery can correct this.

Treatment and care of the face after the facelift

After the facelift, a dressing will be placed to prevent postoperative swelling. Drains will also be placed to catch excess blood and fluid from the wound.

Your face will remain bruised and swollen for several weeks. For this reason, we recommend that you do not have any social or professional contact for the first 10 days after your facelift. Most of the time, these effects are no longer noticeable after 2 weeks.

Precautions to take after your facelift

You will be more vulnerable to sunburn during the first few months after your facelift. It is therefore very important to protect yourself from UV rays by applying sunscreen regularly. Your scars will heal better and be less visible.

Swimming, bathing and sauna should also be avoided for at least six weeks after your intervention.

Rest is very important during this recovery period: sleep 7 to 8 hours a night, rest in the afternoon and have assistance at home

Avoid exertion: no sports for 4 weeks, no carrying of heavy objects, no household exertion…

Sleep on your back in an elevated position to avoid any risk of bleeding.

Food and drink: during the first few days, avoid drinking hot water and do not eat food that is too hard to chew.
